Simon Anke, born in Berlin in 1982, has been a professional musician since 2002 – as a pianist, keyboard player, keyboard bassist, composer, producer and musical director. He started out with solo piano nights in bars and jazz gigs in small clubs; today he plays on tours, TV productions, in the studio and at corporate events.
Since 2016 he has been part of the team of The Voice Of Germany and The Voice Kids, stripping songs down to piano versions and accompanying vocal talents alongside coaches such as Dua Lipa, Robbie Williams, Alicia Keys, Rita Ora and Mark Forster. As a live and touring musician he has performed with Keimzeit, Jocelyn B. Smith, Tina Tandler, Veronika Fischer, Fady Maalouf, Dirk Michaelis, Angelika Weiz and the Filmorchester Babelsberg, among others. His secret weapon is Tastenbass: bass with the left hand, piano and keys with the right.
As a composer and producer he co-writes and produces for the alternative pop duo LÜX (with Isobel Afonte) and swing artist Björn Bergmann, and co-writes with trance producer Dennis Sheperd on Black Hole Recordings. His score for the stop-motion short THE BLANKET (Susanna Donau) won awards at the Cinematic European Film Festival and the Oniros Film Awards in 2024; LIEBLINGSMENSCHEN (Vlady Oszkiel, score with Maurice Mersinger) was nominated at the Solothurn Film Festival 2021. His discography lists 49 releases from 2007 to 2026.
In 2023 he launched his solo piano EP series “Before We Thought About It” – improvised pieces, played for the sake of playing. Since 2020 he has taught piano major and ensemble playing at the Berlin School of Popular Arts (SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences) and runs Tastenbass workshops.
